Unit Test Study Guide

The following information will be on the unit test:

• knowing the basic components of an expression (1.2)
• evaluating (solving) powers and exponents (1.3)
• order of operations/PEMDAS (1.4)
• finding and using formulas (1.5)
• the commutative and associative properties (1.7)
• the distributive property (the rainbow) (1.8)
• translating verbal phrases and sentences into algebraic expressions (2.1 and 2.4)
• COMBINING LIKE TERMS (2.2)
• Addition/Subtraction/Multiplication/Division Properties of Equality (2.5 and 2.6)
• Solving Inequalities (2.8)

In addition to the worksheet given for homework, students are also encouraged to read over each section and to review the chapter study guides (p. 42-45 for chapter 1 and p. 94-97 for chapter 2).
